FastestVPN review

As we declare in our mission, we constantly look for the best privacy and security tools that will help internet users to secure their privacy. For now, we bring you yet another product that we hope will address the growing privacy concerns and will allow you to browse the internet as to how it should be – privately and without borders. Continue to our FastestVPN review below.

As we see, internet privacy is a thing that a lot of people need to still be educated on. Everyday internet users must know why using a public Wi-Fi hotspot to make transactions online is potentially dangerous.

Anyways, let us take a look at the most recent service we have reviewed: FastestVPN

About the company

FastestVPN is officially operating in the Cayman Islands. It’s a territory very similar to Panama or The British Virgin Islands, that privacy evangelists would be familiar with. The Cayman Islands is autonomous which doesn’t have strict data retention laws. It means that privacy-focused companies (like in our case FastestVPN) can operate without the government asking them to monitor and record the activities of its users. Here is a complete guide about government spying and 5/9/14-Eyes Jurisdiction Alliance.

We believe that the location of the VPN provider is definitely one aspect that you should always look into when deciding between VPN services. In other words, the country where the VPN provider is located directly affects what kind of service (in terms of privacy) it can provide.

FastestVPN features

No logs policy – as explained slightly above, FastestVPN offers a ‘no-logs’ policy. It means that you can rely on it to keep your internet activities private. The policy dictates that the VPN provider will never spy or record user activity on its servers. You must know, that some of the VPN providers (like PIA or Hotspot Shield) do log your activities, so be careful!

Good encryption – FastestVPN is equipped with AES 256-bit encryption which is one of the best encryption standards available. This type of encryption allows you to securely transmit data without the fear of a third-party intercepting it.

Split tunneling – The VPN provider very recently added Split Tunneling to the service as a new feature. Split tunneling allows users to tunnel some internet traffic through the secure VPN server while leaving the rest of the traffic without VPN protection. We loved this feature and we think that it is a must-have thing for each VPN provider.

10 simultaneous devices – Many VPN providers are stepping up in this area. FastestVPN allows you to connect up to 10 devices simultaneously (e.g. our #1 recommended NordVPN allows you to connect “only” 6). We believe that 10 simultaneous connections is a cool feature because it would allow you to protect almost the whole family.

Big variety of client apps – setting up FastestVPN on iOS and Android devices is easy, because there are dedicated client apps. No manual configuration is needed. The same applies to the macOS and Windows versions. FastestVPN has redesigned the apps completely as of recent news and the UI is visually appealing and works well in terms of navigation. Previously it was not the best one, we can say.. 🙂

FastestVPN touts compatibility with more than 20 devices. It achieves that through the router configuration. It’s a slightly difficult process but the VPN provider has written guides for it on their blog

24/7 customer support – As we already mentioned lots of times, good customer support is a must thing that every VPN provider has to have. Some services don’t offer 24/7 support or only offer them “on paper”. We were surprised that FastestVPN has a dedicated team of specialists that can be reached via email or live chat for support. In 24/7! Also, you have to know that customer support is a place where you need to go when asking for a refund (FastestVPN offers a 15-day money-back guarantee)

Compared to some of the top VPN services, FastestVPN costs a lot less and has some good and basic features that every VPN provider must-have. Here’s the complete pricing plan:

  • 1 Month Plan – $10
  • 1 Year Plan – $29.95
  • 3 Year Plan – $39.95
  • 5 Year Plan – $49.95

We tried running FastestVPN through a speed test. The US server was quick to connect and gave us decent connection speeds (110ms, 28.99mbps download & 22.14mbps upload speeds. Although this service is less than three years old, it felt stable. Consider this VPN if you are in the market, it can be a very good alternative to Cyberghost or Perfect Privacy.
